Pike Place Market

The day after we arrived in Washington, we went downtown to Seattle for a morning at the Pike Place Market. We even got there before many of the vendors (probably because it was a rainy weekday). We had hot Tom Thumb donuts for breakfast - a big hit!

Had to take a picture here!
This is the "famous" shop where they throw the fish. The kids are pointing to a monk fish that they have rigged on a string behind the counters. Whenever kids get close to the fish, one of the workers gives the string a tug and the fish seems to jump!
We tried a new fruit we'd never had (lychee - none of us liked it) and stopped in for a drink at the original Starbucks location. We went over to Pioneer Square for lunch at Salumi, which is owned by Mario Batalli's dad. It didn't live up to the hype in my opinion, although in retrospect we did not order the "right" sandwiches. Overall, a great morning!
