Tea Party

This afternoon we had a tea party. Jack has been asking to do this for days, but he is not allowed to use sister's special tea set without her, so it had to wait until Saturday. Her breakable tea service for two was a gift from Aunt Bev on our last trip to Kentucky. The tea was served with assorted treats from their Halloween stash.
AnneMarie said, "Take a picture of me eating a Kit Kat." Then she proceeded to pose with Kit Kat in mid-air near her mouth. She is quite the photogenic model these days.
Jack is quite sticky at the end of a tea party, thanks to his liberal use of sugar cubes.

As you can see, a tea party at our house involves a lot of slurping ...
and drinking tea from teeny, tiny spoons.

Halloween Party 2009

This year was our 7th annual family Halloween Party! We had a blast. It was cold early in the week but it turned nice by Saturday. This year the party was actually on Halloween, so the dads took the kids trick-or-treating on our street for just a bit. Thanks to everybody who could make it, we missed those of you who couldn't be there. Don't worry, there will be another party next year! :)
Nathan and I as Edward Cullen and Rosalie Hale from Twilight.
The Montoya family as a pirate, the most BEEutiful bumblebee, and skeleton.
Jeremy definitely had the best make up job.
Aleigh as, you guessed it, a Sonic carhop. Would you believe they loaned her the outfit and accessories? And made her her own nametag? Totally authentic.

The 2009 Costume Contest Winner: Jim as Michael Jackson! He even had some smooth moves to go with the outfit.
Somehow I did not get a pic of Jenny as Bat Girl. She had some killer boots!
Kelly & Ben as the OctoMom and her fertility doctor!
She has A LOT of kids!

Garrett was the motocross guy and Dalton was the sinister clown. Somehow I did not get a good picture of Mason, he was a gorilla.
Sydney as the Spiderella Queen.
Lily was pretty glamorous, but when I asked what she was, she just said "Cat."
Jack was, obviously, a skeleton. But what he wanted to be was a zombie, an idea he got from Scooby-Doo. So we humored him and called him the Zombie Skeleton. He wore the hat all night.

We were relieved that the weather turned nice enough to spend a little time outside.

We also had a pinata outside and later on scary stories around the bonfire. Garrett & Mason know a lot of spooky stories! All the kids wanted to tell at least one, although Jack's wasn't too successful. He was so quiet, he got a lot of encouragement to speak up, and that sort of derailed him. He never really told a story, but he did enjoy hearing them. Ben scared all the kids with his story, as usual! It was a great time.
