Family Egg Hunt

We hosted Easter lunch at our house this year, we had 22 people and it was a great time!
My girl and me ... we neglected to get any pics of the whole family.
We had so many eggs for the kids to hunt this year! Here they are making the mad dash out the door. The biggest boys were not up for an egg hunt anymore. I think Ryan was wise to go ahead and hunt because he was $9 richer for his efforts!

Going through the haul!

Our neighbor across the street decorated the front yard with tons of plastic eggs (and also lots of treats) hanging from the trees. It was a really cool surprise for the kids to wake up to on Easter morning, and it really looked beautiful, these pictures don't do the scene justice.

Baseball Practice

Today was the second week of Little Sluggers baseball at Haynes Park. Jack loves it! They practiced batting today, which was quite boring, because there were 16 kids. Jack was near the front of the line so he got his 6 pitches (he got a piece of one!) and then he stood out in the field the rest of the time. Since not may 4 to 6 year olds actually hit the ball, not much fielding happens. But he did go after a grounder and threw it back to Coach Ray. This is a program through the parks and rec where they build skills for 4 weeks and on the fifth and final week they have a mini game. He is very excited about his first organized sport and invites everyone he can to "come to my baseball on Saturday."

First Grade "Western" Concert

These pics came out horrible, the lighting was not good. The first grade concert was held at the high school, the girls were so excited to be up on the big stage (and Jack was so jealous!). Each class had one song that they "danced" to, while all the other classes sang along. The kids were encouraged to wear cowboy boots and hats.
Julia's class danced and sang Buffalo Gals. Julia is in a pale blue shirt and a bright green bonnet.
They did some kind of partners dance involving ropes. Julia was relieved because the boy who was supposed to be her partner, who she doesn't like, did not show up. She got paired with someone else who apparently she likes better.
AnneMarie's class did their dance to Old Dan Tucker. AnneMarie has on a pink shirt and a weird hat with her back to the camera. They did a cute dance that involved shaking around bandanas. AnneMarie's class had an excellent turn out, 18 of the 22 kids showed up. Her teacher is standing on the stairs with the plaid shirt.
There were about 8 songs total, one for each class, and the girls knew them all so well! The concert ended with everyone singing Happy Trails to You. They definitely had a great time, the girls were practically giddy with silliness when they finished. AnneMarie loves to perform!

Dyeing Eggs

I missed all the good stuff, as far as the pictures go. Julia, AnneMarie and Jack all colored eggs with Papa and Grandma. Papa is quite the artistic expert when it comes to coloring eggs. He taught the kids to use crayons on the eggs to leave some areas white. Everyone had a great time.
AnneMarie posing with her favorite pink egg. Notice the missing tooth on the bottom?
Grandma shows off her best egg, with her name on it.
The finished products. Jack's is the one with the face. In typical Jack style, he just made one, that was enough for him. Grandma turned most of these into deviled eggs for our Easter lunch the next day.

Bunk Beds!

Uncle Jim & Aunt Jenny were kind enough to pass along the boys' bunk beds when they were done with them. AnneMarie & Jack have been so excited! When my parents came to town, they got them all put together.

Molly especially likes the new beds.
Jack wishes he could sleep on the top bunk but that is AnneMarie's domain for now.
The bunk beds are a huge hit and a big improvement from the toddler beds. AnneMarie's feet were sticking out! Now everyone is comfy in their bid kid beds. Thanks, Jim & Jenny, and thanks, Mom & Dad!

Playgroup Egg Hunt

We hosted an egg hunt for Jack's playgroup in our backyard. We had a great turn out and a lot of fun! The weather was beautiful during, then the wind really picked up right after we finished the hunt.

A lot of friends came! Everyone brought 12 eggs, so each one hunted until they found 12. It worked out great!

Going through their haul ... I think Miss Jennifer's been caught with her mouth full!

Kentucky Trip - Patti's & Goodbyes

Here's Jack and our gracious hostess for the week, Ronnah.
Aleigh, Ronnah, Jon and Melanie around one of our four tables at Patti's. We make it a point to visit there every time we're in Kentucky. Over the top indulgent, and worth every bit of it!
Baby Ben, Aunt Ann & Uncle Mike.
Somehow AnneMarie convinced Aunt Bev to wear a pink cat on her head!?! Those gals will do anything for a laugh.
